50th Anniversary of the Faculty of Chemistry (UCM)

Abstract

The 50-year history of the Faculty of Chemistry (UCM), established in 1974 following the division of the former Faculty of Sciences, is a chronicle of expansion and adaptation. In this article, we narrate the transformation and emergence of the various buildings that currently compose the faculty. Likewise, we review the evolution of the syllabi, from the rigid earlier systems to the modern Bologna Plan Degrees (2009), which earned the European accreditations Eurobachelor and EurAce. Research has always been a fundamental pillar of the faculty, growing exponentially to the present day. Finally, the evolution of the faculty staff and students is detailed, along with the growth of female representation within these two groups.
