The new field created by the combination of nanotechnology and radiochemistry is opening new exciting possibilities in the development of materials for biomedicine. This approach is particularly important in molecular imaging, the possibility of using a single probe for functional and anatomical imaging together with the size-dependent properties of nanomaterials pave the way for completely different approaches. The key step in this field is the design and synthesis of highly complex probes by choosing the right material and radioisotope, their synthesis and combination, for that researches on the filed must carefully combine tools from materials chemistry and organic synthesis.
Ruthenium(IV) complexes are well-known in coordination and organometallic chemistry. However, their catalytic applications have been little explored. During the last years our group has demonstrated the enormous potential of the bis(allyl)-ruthenium(IV) derivatives [{RuCl(µ-Cl)(η 3 :η 3 -C10H16)}2 ] (C10H16 = 2,7-dimethylocta-2,6-diene-1,8-diyl) and [RuCl2 (η 3 :η 2 :η 3 -C12H18)] (C12H18 = dodeca-2,6,10- triene-1,12-diyl) in catalysis. An account of the advances reached in this field is presented herein.
Eugène Soubeiran (1797-1858) was a French pharmacist and physician, who worked on the chlorides of mercury, arsone, simple and compound tartrates, nitrogen sulfides, camphor and its derivatives, ether, and natural products. His main achievement was the discovery of chloroform, although he did not realize its use as anesthetic.
Abstract: This article describes the experience carried out in the context of the course Introduction to Environmental Science (Master in Environmental Law in University Rovira i Virgili). To facilitate the acquisition and understanding of some complex concepts, and to encourage critical thinking, the documentary and the discussion have been used as educational resources. Specifically, There is no tomorrow, a documentary that brings about the end of the energy wealth and global growth has been analysed, and degrowth as a topic of discussion has been proposed.
Keywords: Degrowth, documentary, discussion, sciences education, environmental sciences.
